How Deep Partnerships Can Become Your Number 1 Growth Engine

Vitaly Bochkarev, Chief Marketing Officer at Звук, explains how companies can grow when traditional channels disappear and trust becomes the real competitive edge. He shares how deep partner integration, not surface-level collaboration, creates scalable customer value. Vitaly demonstrates how unified journeys, shared KPIs, and multi-level buy-in turn ecosystems into high-performing engines. His insights reveal why partnerships succeed only when every layer of both organizations commits.

When traditional marketing channels disappear overnight, companies face a critical question: how do you continue growing when your usual tools are gone? This was the exact challenge faced by Vitaly Bochkarev, Chief Marketing Officer at Звук, after returning to Russia in 2023. With platforms like Google, Meta, and LinkedIn no longer accessible, the path forward required rethinking acquisition entirely.

Instead of relying on paid traffic or conventional campaigns, Vitaly turned to an unexpected but powerful lever for growth: deep, trust-driven partnerships. His approach offers clear guidance for B2B leaders navigating uncertain markets, limited resources, or rising acquisition costs.

“Real growth, especially in B2B, is not about having the biggest budget or the flashiest channel. It is about building trust, creating value, and investing in people and partnerships that actually work.” – Vitaly Bochkarev

Key Takeaways:

  • Deep trust is a growth multiplier when channels collapse.
  • Partnerships succeed only with shared value and integration.
  • Team alignment drives execution more than strategy alone.

Article: "How Deep Partnerships Can Become Your Number 1 Growth Engine"

This article is based on an interview with Vitaly Bochkarev, Chief Marketing Officer at Звук

Rethinking Growth When the Usual Channels Disappear

For Vitaly, the collapse of standard B2B marketing channels was both a setback and an opportunity. Without Google, Meta, or LinkedIn, digital advertising became nearly impossible, and local alternatives were designed for B2C. As he describes, “All the standard marketing instruments simply didn’t exist anymore.” Competition increased, costs surged, and conversion ceilings became difficult to break. This forced a fundamental shift in how his team approached customer acquisition.

The realization was clear: paid channels could no longer scale. “You cannot really scale sustainably through paid traffic anymore,” Vitaly explains. This created space for partnerships to emerge as a high-trust, high-conversion alternative. Instead of pushing harder on systems that no longer worked, Vitaly focused on combining the trust networks of multiple companies. When two organizations serve the same customer base, their combined credibility accelerates growth far more efficiently than isolated performance marketing efforts.

Partnerships, however, were not an instant solution. Vitaly emphasizes that success requires redefining what a partnership truly is. Surface-level bundles or discount pairings rarely produce meaningful outcomes. True growth required alignment across systems, incentives, and customer journeys.

Why Most Partnerships Fail Before They Start

Vitaly learned that partnerships often fail due to weak incentives and shallow integration. Many companies approach partnerships with a simple bundle: buy product A, get a discount on product B. “Not surprisingly, it didn’t work because the value creation was one-sided,” he notes. Sales teams lacked motivation, products didn’t connect operationally, and customers saw no meaningful benefit.

His insight is blunt but accurate: “B2B clients are looking for long-term value and trust, not small savings upfront.” This is why deep integration became central to his strategy. The goal was not just to co-market, but to create a unified offering that delivered more value together than either company could alone.

This meant shared KPIs, joint subscription models, and seamless access across platforms. One example was combining bank services with Звук’s music solution under a single subscription. Customers experienced more value, partners saw stronger retention, and both companies benefited from a unified growth motion. The effort required resources, but the payoff was significant.

Executing Deep Integration Across Teams and Operations

The most challenging part was not proposing the partnership, but executing it. Vitaly explains that alignment across two separate companies required persistent communication, leadership buy-in, and redesigned incentives. “It took weeks to show real proof points and make clear why this project was worth prioritizing,” he shares. Internal skepticism was high due to past failed partnerships.

A breakthrough came from training. Vitaly personally trained more than 2,000 bank managers across 11 regions. “When we didn’t do that level of training, nothing happened,” he admits. Managers were overwhelmed with hundreds of competing products and often forgot the partnership existed. Real progress came only after leadership and frontline teams understood why the combined solution mattered to customers and how it helped them meet their own KPIs.

The results validated the effort. Unified onboarding, shared metrics, and multi-level alignment created a smooth customer journey and a scalable partnership engine. Even in a restricted market, the program achieved measurable KPIs ahead of schedule.

Conclusion

Vitaly’s experience proves that real growth is not about having the biggest budget or the most advanced channels. It is about trust, shared value, and the willingness to build something meaningful with partners. His reminder is simple but powerful: “Real growth, especially in B2B, is not about having the biggest budget or the flashiest channel. It is about building trust, creating value, and investing in people and partnerships that actually work.” Leaders who embrace this mindset can unlock new paths to scale, even when traditional tactics fall short. The companies that thrive will be those willing to rethink old assumptions and invest deeply in the relationships that matter most.
